Boarding News

April 2019

This half term has once again been a busy one. We have had many activities going on, in and about the house. As can be seen from the photos below our students have enjoyed making dream catchers, had a onesie party for charity and joined in with the charity football matches. I am very pleased to say that the Chapter House Boys’ team once again won their match against the year 6 boys – they had great fun playing and enjoyed their continuing winning streak.

We had one of our language assistants come and make French toast which was enjoyed very much as can be seen by the happy faces. Whilst here she also taught some of our students a few French words.

We have had our usual weekend trips including Energi Beats, which seems to be popular with the children. They also had the chance to go to Legoland and the Aquarium.  Those that went had a great time playing amongst the touch pool in the Aquarium and enjoying rides and building with the many blocks of Lego in Legoland.

Chapter House boarding staff would like to wish you all a very happy Easter holiday and we look forward to seeing the children back here rested and refreshed.

Reminders:

  • It is important to keep to a good bedtime routine for the children, therefore please do not call the rooms after 20:00 as this is the time that the children are settling down ready for bed.

February 2019

This half term has been a full and varied one in Chapter house. Some of our students were lucky enough to have been asked to go to Ripon Cathedral to help set up Candlemas and afterwards join in the celebration. We have had many weekend activities such as Energy beats, cinema and soft play where they were able to go to the petting farm. Their favourite animal was the goat; he was quite happy to have his ears scratched! Bowling and laser zone were also enjoyed by our students as well as the Gym Festival.
In House we held the teddy bears’ tea party and all the students that wanted to have their faces painted had them painted with Teddy bears. We have had plenty of arts and crafts going on; paper flower garlands and lots of drawings.
Football has been enjoyed every weekend with matches being played against the year 6 students – unfortunately we haven’t been as successful this half term, not winning many of the games! The students enjoyed time in the dance studio learning Disco Zumba as well as playing table tennis and enjoying races in the martial arts room.
This half term our charity event was successful – the students helped to make and sell cakes for Valentine’s day.
As we break up, we have to say goodbye to some of our staff who are going onto different jobs; Mr Casten, Miss Franklin and Miss Gillam.  We wish then all the best for their future endeavours.
We have welcomed Mr Harmen into Chapter House, who some of you may know as he has worked with Chapter House before. We also have two new members of staff joining when we start back after the holidays.

  Reminders:
• Phone calls need to be finished by 20:00 hrs as any time after this disrupts the evening routine and disturbs roommates who are trying to sleep. If there is an emergency, please call on the emergency phone: 07599276655.
• Tuck needs to be in single packaging and have an expiry date that will last the term.
